The Journey of A Magician

DAY ONE, UNFAMILIAR PLACE, DAY TIME.

ugh, the sun shone so bright. the blue sky was spotless. clear as water. i blinked both eyes as i stepped down from the ship. it was a medium sized ship with dull wood-brownish colors. before she left the sky dock, i tried to remember for how long i was board on that ship. and what for. The thing i remembered was i am chosen to board that very ship to go somewhere. My head start spinning around, ... and i fell into darkness. I just didn't know what happened after that. i felt nothing. until i heard somebody speaking,

"Hey, wake up, dude. wake up!"

That voice was silky and clear. i could feel a smooth yet firm hand shaking my right shoulder and poking my cheeks several time. i thought to myself, 'a girl's voice? it may only be a dream.' when i decided to keep my eyes closed and continue the dream, another heavy and mannish voice heard.

"Captain Rien, let me take him to the guard booth! This guy is suspicious! He brings a strange looking staff with him. What is that staff for? beating children? shepherding animals? it's dangero ..."

And that silky voice cut in the middle, "Oh, shut up, Kuzo!! You talk to much!!"

'Kuzo? Captain Rien? who are they? what dream is this?' i kept thinking while closing my eyes until a splash of cold water showering all over my face. I opened my eyes and woke up with haste. There i saw a cute chick with heavy armor accompanied with a broad shoulder guy in heavy armor too. both were looking at me. the cute chick held an empty bottle. that was the explanation why my face sopping wet.

I started to go a quick look for my staff and my bag. oh no, that Kuzo guy held my staff and my bag. oh no, i'm unarmed. but the smile on the chick cute face is still there. the she opened her mouth and a familiar silky soft voice heard.

"Are you allright, adventurer. I'm captain Rien who's incharge at this place."

"H.. hello. would you give back my staff. and my bag." I said in a trembled voice. more like a squeak. Captain Rien move swiftly and take my staff and bag from that Kuzo guy. She gave a stern look at Kuzo when he tried to keep them in his hand. Then she turned to me, and give the staff and bag.

"Here you go. We're sorry we took and take a look at your stuff while you passed-out. But you'll find nothing missing there. We did that since the situation here a tiny bit dangerous, you know. We have to deal with monsters all over the land."

"M ... monsters?" My voice sound like a squeak now. Fear came without warning. and clearly, she noticed that before even she heard my next question, "What M .. monsters?"

She drew closer to me. Her right hand patted my right shoulder, and said, "Don't worry. I will train you.  will guide you in your first battle. You'll grow stronger and more skillful in no time. You may not feel strong or believe that you have that power now, but you are. Trust me. Will you?

My head nodded before i realize. But i found something assuring in her voice and her eyes. that bright blue eyes somehow burn my fear and grows my confidence. Monsters. I don't know what kind of monsters out there to face, but I was starting to believe that i could beat them all.

Captain Rien patted me in the back again and said, "For now, get yourself a shelter around here. Take a good rest. ease your mind and body. and Prepare for your first battle lesson tomorrow."

Like hypnotized, i nodded my head again and headed to the guard post. That night, i had a dream. I'd beaten out a huge black dragon with shiny green eyes and scales. I stood on the back of the dragon and pointing a sparklish golden wand onto the sky. And in a distance, i saw Captain Rien's face was wet from tears, and smile broadly to me.
